"In this colored ink artwork I used pencils of different hardnesses for the line art to give the composition an additional feeling of depth. Some of these characters have appeared in my sketchbooks before, and I was happy to finally find them a home in a finished illustration. I like the idea of a monster café, with each patron enjoying a drink made specifically for them – the mermaid has a seawater cocktail and the zombie is taking a sip from a brainshake! 

After I had already finished this piece I learned that butterflies can taste with their feet, and I like to think that this is why the little fairy has her feet dipped in her drink. "
