Words from Heikala:
"This colored ink artwork was originally for Sanmagumo’s zine introducing Japanese yōkai and similar Finnish folklore. Vellamo is the Finnish mistress of water, seas, and lakes, and she was revered by fishermen. Here she is surrounded by perches and rainbow trouts, and wears a crown of water lilies and pondweed. Her jewelry and clothes were inspired by the reconstruction of an 11th century dress on display at the National Museum of Finland in Helsinki."
