“I used colored pencils and inks for this artwork, with lines in HB pencil for that extra softness that really makes the character pop against the dark and dramatic background. It was nice to focus on a character portrait for a change, and this piece ended up becoming one of my personal favorites!

Much of what the character is wearing, starting from the jewelry, the pine cones, and capercaillie feathers, is a nod to my own background and love for the Nordic nature. The name ‘Noita’ means ‘witch’ in my native language, Finnish.”
