“This colored ink artwork was painted for the Mermay 2021 exhibition at Gallery Nucleus. I wanted to play with the idea of shooting stars landing in water and becoming starfish – or sea stars, as they’re called in Finnish. The bright and vibrant colors bring whimsy to the dramatic composition, and I always love the effect of light filtering through water.”
