“This colored ink artwork has a color scheme that’s quite unusual for me, but I think it complements the fantastical subject matter nicely, and adds to the dreamlike quality of the piece. This was one of my first fully rendered illustrations with no black line art, although these days I often experiment with different colors and tools. The background is loosely based on some photographs I’ve taken on my travels in Japan.”
